Every day there are new free books released for the Kindle and they’re free for a variety of reasons, the most common reason being to get more press for the authors.

Well, today we hit the mother load. With just the free books that have been released in the last few hours you could more than pay for 10 Kindles. Over 100 new free Kindle books have been released – 131 to be exact. Most of them are in non-fiction genres with a lot of true story, medical, and business books.

I found them on the Facebook page of Ereader News Today which is how I always get updated on the latest free releases.

The great thing about these free Kindle books is that you don’t even need a Kindle to read them. You can go to Amazon and download Kindle apps for almost any device including the iPad, iPhone, iPod, Anroid phones, Windows Phone, etc.

I’ve actually found quite a few good new authors by reading the free books so it’s not really a case of you get what you pay for. As a matter of fact, earlier in the week I was able to get the pre-order for James Patterson’s new book, Tick Tock, for free – a $28 value.

So if you’re on the fence about whether or not to get the Kindle, the large number of free books that are available could help sway your decision. Even if you don’t want to shell out the $139 for a new Kindle, just remember that you can get the Kindle apps for free.
