Big Ben Gets Bloodied, Steelers Win
The Pittsburgh Steelers have taken over sole possession of first place in the AFC North with a come from behind 13-10 victory Sunday night over the Baltimore Ravens.
Going into the game the Steelers and Ravens were tied with 8-3 records but the Steelers were able to pull out the victory with a Ben Roethlisberger touchdown pass to Isaac Redman with 2:51 left in the game.
On Pittsburgh’s first series of the game, Roethlisberger suffered a broken nose after being hit in the face by a Ravens defender. He was hunched over and bleeding on his jersey before he stood up and walked off the field.
Roethlisberger, who went 22 for 38 for 253 yards, was under constant pressure all game long. He was sacked three times but was hit many more times than that as the Ravens defense kept coming at him the entire game.
The victory was Roethlisberger’s sixth straight against the Raven’s.
On the other side of the ball, Baltimore’s Joe Flacco went 17 for 33 for 266 yards and a touchdown.
Flacco was harassed all night long too, by the Steelers defense. His fumble, forced by Troy Polamalu, led to the Steelers’ winning touchdown. It was the first time all game long that the Steelers had the lead.
Baltimore started the scoring in the first quarter with a 14 yard touchdown pass from Flacco to Anquan Boldin.
The loss for the Raven’s snapped their eight game home winning streak and marked the sixth time this season that Baltimore had given up a lead in the fourth quarter.
